Rumah Desa Cooking Class

A. Cooking Class Short Program
    In this program you will experience Balinese cooking techniques and taste the traditional foods of people in bali. Before you start to cook, you will be introduced the spices which are used for cooking. At Rumah Desa you learn at least 12 recipes of Balinese food and will be guided by Balinese Chef.

The menus for this cooking experience are:
BASE BE PASIH (seafood paste).
BASE GEDE (basic spice paste).
BABI KECAP (pork in sweet soya sauce).
SIAP BETUTU (roasted chicken in banana leaf).
SATE AYAM (chicken sate).
SATE LILIT (fish sate on lemon grass).
PESAN BE PASIH (fish wrappedin banana leaf).
LAWAR GEDANG (green papaya salad).
GADO-GADO (vegetable in peanut dressing).
AYAM SAMBEL BEJEK (chicken with chillies, shallot, lemon grass).
LAK LAK (small balinese pancake).
BUBUH INJIN (black rice pudding).

B. Cooking Class Full Program
     See the unique Balinese culture and experience something different on the island through cooking experience. On this program you will learn more about Balinese spices and have a great opportunity to cook authentic Balinese cuisines and taste delicious meals.  
     The program will start with a visit on the traditional market where you can see the local buy the ingredients for their foods. Here you will explore and experience  the life of the Balinese. After visiting the market we drive further to Rumah Desa where your cooking experience will be held. At Rumah Desa you learn at least 21 recipes of Balinese food and will be guided by professional cook.

  This bicycle tour takes you far aways from the regular tourist itinerary and off the beaten track into rural Bali where you will get to see the customs and age old traditions of the balinese people.

  You begin by whisking you away from your accommodation by A/C van and then drive up to Kintamani for breakfast. The restaurant features a most exquisite view of the region's active volcano mountain Batur and lake Batur.

  After breakfast, your friendly guides will then take you on an amazing ride through the beautiful Balinese countryside where you will see some spectacular views. As you ride through timeless small villages you will see the smiles of Balinese children and hear friendly greetings from local villagers.

  You ride through an incredible 70 acre bamboo forest and see traditional craftsmen at work and farmers tending to their rice fields en route. The ride includes a visit to the magical Balinese Traditional Village of Penglipuran, the temple of Kehen, a local market in the local town of Bangli and at the end a short walk through the rice paddies to see villagers planting and harvesting rice (you can even join in).

  After the bike tour, you will be invited for your buffet lunch at the traditional Balinese home for a show you the traditional process of making coconut oil by hand, and you will see many of the spices which are commonly used in cooking as well as different tropical fruits growing in their natural environment.

Useful tips:
·        Always wear your helmet and attach it properly while riding.
·      Test your bike before the tour starts and check that all the parts are working properly. Adjust your seat if necessary so that you are seated comfortably and that your feet are able to touch the ground. We always do a thorough check of all parts of the bike before the trips, but you should still double check everything to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident on the bike. 
·        Do not ride too close to each others and always be alert to your guide who should always be in front of you leading the way.
·        Be sure you know how to ride a bicycle, including usage of gears, brakes and other components.
·        Listen to our guide's explanation on riding safety and follow his instructions.
